Kingston, Jamaica – Former champions Naggo Head leads a tight race after four finals at the end of day two of the 35th INSPORTS/Seprod Primary Schools Athletics Championship at the National Stadium.

Three of the four finals were completed today at the end of which Naggo Head leads with 19 points, ahead of St Benedict’s and Black River with 15 points each. Both Clan Carthy and Bybrook are on 14 points, while Holy Family are the only other team to amassed double figures in the combined team scores.

Defending champions New Providence failed to add to their overnight two points and are further down the pack.

Today, top honours were shared amongst Naggo Head, Bybrook of north St Catherine and Black River, who continue to impress in only their second appearance at these championships.

Naggo Head accumulated big points in the girls high jump Open when Garbrielle Williams held off Harbour View’s Danielle Hinds to win gold with a measurement of 1.35 metres. Hinds, who recorded the same mark, had to settle for silver, while Williams’ teammate Amelia Davis took the bronze with a clearance of 1.30m.

Bouwahjgie Nkrumie gave St Elizabeth’s Black River their first gold medal of the championships after topping the boys long jump Open with a distance of 5.06m. Bybrook’s Roneal Smith was second with 5.01m, while Jahiem Cox finished third with 4.96m.
