School boys Allen and Crooks named in World Relays team

Photo: Kingston College athlete Twayne Crooks is set to make his senior debut for Jamaica at the World Relays in the Bahamas this weekend

Nathon Allen of St. Jago High and Twayne Crooks of Kingston College are the two school boys named to represent Jamaica at second staging of the World Relays in Nassau, Bahamas, to be held from the May 2 to May 3.

Allen who finished second at the Grace Kennedy/ISSA Boys and Girls Championships in a personal best of 45.30 is the second fastest Jamaican over 400 meters this year. Crooks who finished fourth in the same race, ran a personal best of 45.95 earlier this season and is the fourth fastest Jamaican over 400 meters this year.

Additionally Javon “Donkeyman” Francis who is the second fastest Jamaican over the one lap event this season, with his 45.50s will also be a part of the 4x400M relay team and Javere Bell the third fastest Jamaican over 400 meters with a time of 45.68, along with Edino steel and Rusheen McDonald complete the athletes for the Men’s 4×400 meters relay squad.

The team that is led by Usain Bolt has the likes of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Veronica Campbell-Brown, Sherone Simpson, Elaine Thompson, Kerron Stewart, Christania Williams, Shericka Williams, Natoya Goule, Novlene Williams-Mills, Shericka Jackson, Anastasia Le-Roy, Janieve Russell, Stephenie-Ann McPherson, Christine Day, Samantha James, Samantha Henry-Robinson, Simone Facey, Natasha Morrison, Scillonie Calvert, Simoya Campbell, Kimarra McDonald, Nesta Carter,Kemar Bailey-Cole, Kimarley Brown, Andrew Fisher, Julian Forte, Nickel Ashmeade, Jermaine Brown, Rasheed Dwyer, Jason Livermore, Warren Weir,Jonia McDonald ,Ricardo Chambers, Ricardo Cunningham and Jo-Wayne Hibbert complete the squad to represent Jamaica at the World Relays.

Notably, Bolt will be participating in the relays for the first time as he missed the inaugural staging last year in what was a low keyed season for him. However, the world’s fastest man will be using the meet to help get sharp for what is set to be a spectacular season of athletics for the senior athletes, with the World Championships in Russia looming large.
