The world fastest man, Usain Bolt, took to the track at the GC Foster Classics on Saturday as he participated in the 400m in the final event is the six-meet Digical Athletic Gran Prix Series. Bolt looked tired as he crossed the finishing line, winning his heat in a time of 46.38.

“I am very pleased with the run and it’s my first 400 Meter of the season and I hope I don’t have to run anymore,” he laughed.

“It’s all up to the coach what I run next but I don’t have any idea where I go next, just training at the moment but it’s going to take me a little time to get to the pace am use to an my focus is to defend my titles at the World Championships and I the world record come then that’s great for me”.

Christopher Taylor the fastest 15 year old over 400 meters, broke Kirani James’s record of 45.70 with a very impressive run here last Saturday at the Carifta Trials stopping the clock at 45.69. He crowned himself Digicel Under-17 champion Grand Prix 400m champion with a reserved 49.61.

“The preparation for now until the ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Championship is just to listen to my coach instruction and I don’t have to worry once I do that. It’s going be competitive but I will be ready”.

“I am not going to try and overdo it at Champs. I am just going try and run my own race,” added Taylor.

Twayne Crooks was the Under-19 Boys 400m Grand Prix Champion crossing line in a personal best of 45.93s, another sub 46 seconds clocking in the Boys Class 1.

Crooks has been having a good season so far, especially over the one lap event and is clearly a contender at Champs for the gold medal.

“My coach Instructions was to come out and run my own race and I did just that. I wanted a good time going into Champs. I don’t want to say my expectation but I want to do well, my aim is not to beat my teammate (Akeem Bloomfield – 45.41) but if it happens I will take it”.

Ask what are the events he will be doing crooks said that’s up to his coach and he trust his coach to know what his body can handle. An if my coach say I am going do the 5000 meters then that’s what I will do.

Shanike Walker of Vere Technical was the Digicel Grand Prix Champion for the Under-16 Girls 400m. The impressive teen has been having a good season at both 400 and 800 meters and was impressive again on Saturday, crossing the line in a time of 55.77 seconds.

“I am very pleased with my performance, although it’s not my personal best, but I am improving going into Champions. I am having a very good season, I want to run 53 seconds in the 400 and 2:14 seconds in the 800 meters. I am on course to achieve that and my body is feeling very good, she gushed.

Alesha Kelly was the Grand Prix Champion for the Under-19 Girls 400 meter. Kelly was disqualified at the Carifta Trials here last Saturday but recovered from that setback, crossing the line in 53.95.

“I felt okay running today. I can’t run this year at the championship because I was transferred from Guys Hill High school, I am enjoying myself at Hydel and I have been having a good season so far. I hope to do well next year at Champs and get the Gold medal and even the record,” she stated emphatically.
