Reigning NCAA Division One Indoor champion and former Kingston College and Manchester High School standout, Omar McLeod, continued his outstanding season campaign, with an outstanding victory in the 60m hurdles at the 2015 Southeastern Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships at Nutter Fieldhouse in Lexington, Ky.

The University of Arkansas athlete ran a new personal best and SEC Indoor championships record of 7.49 seconds, just 0.01 shy of former hurdler Maurice Wignall (7.48 seconds) Jamaican record done in 2004 at the World Indoor Championship.

The winning time has also propelled the Jamaican to third fastest in the world this year. Fellow Jamaican athlete Yannick Hart, Florida State finished 5th in a time of 7.84 seconds.

Other top Jamaica collegiate stars who came up big on the day include the inform Herbert Morrison Technical alumni Remona Burchell who stormed to victory in 7. 08 seconds to register the top time and a new women’s collegiate record, erasing the old mark of 7.09 seconds previously held by Angela Williams of USC.

Jamaica’s long distance running hopefuls Natoya Goule of Clemson University ran 2:03.57 for second placed in the women’s 800 while, Belfield High Standout. Kemoy Campbell completed the 3000m/ 5000m double with 8:00.27 and 13:44.96.

The NCAA Division One Indoor Championships will take place from March 13-14 in Arkansas.
