ASAFA POWELL NOT BACK WITH OLD PARTNER

A lot of fans supporters and media houses were in a speculative mood after the Former 100-metre world record holder, Asafa Powell, won his 100m race on Sunday’s race meet in Rieti, Italy at which time he was seeing sporting a body suit with the Nike trade mark sign.

However the concerns and questions were answered after it was revealed that Powell was only wearing the Nike apparel because he had lost his luggage en route to Italy and had to borrow gear to compete in.

Powell ended his six year contract with the Nike brand in 2009 which was replaced by a US$750,000-a-year contract by Li Ning. That agreement was later terminated in 2013 by the Chinese Sportswear Company after Powell’s positive drug test for the banned stimulant, Oxilofrone, for which he served a 18 month suspension.
