Asafa Powell returns to Rieti

Asafa Powell will lead a host of Jamaicans down to take part in the IAAF World Challenge meeting in Rieti Italy from the 6-7 of September 2014. In 2007 Powell ran a world record 9.74s in the heats to win, since then that time has been bettered by countryman Usain Bolt, who currently holds the record at 9.58s.

Powell will be joined in heat two of the men’s 100 by compatriot Nesta Carter. Heat one will feature Jacques Harvey and Rasheed Dywer doing battle with the in form Justin Gatlin, who ran a new world lead and personal best of 9.77s in Brussels on Friday night.

Rusheen Mcdonald will seek to defend his 400m title, but will be hard press by teammate Edino Steele.
Stephanie- Ann Mcpherson will challenge for top spot in the 400m for women.She is joined by main challenger in fellow country woman Christine Day.

Carrie Russel is set to do battle in the women’s 100m, against USA’S Joanna Atkins, Bahamian Anthonique Strachan and Ecuadorian young sensation Gabriella Tenerio.
