The Jamaica Automotive Association Total Lubricants Emancipation of Speed race will he held on Sunday at Dover beginning at 9:00 am

The Jamaica Race Drivers Club launched its third race meet of 2014 this morning at the Sports Development Foundation office in Kingston. The meet is dubbed Jamaica Automotive Association Total Lubricants Emancipation of Speed race meet.

Several drivers were in attendance including Doug Hollywood Gore who will be racing at Dover for the first time this year. He will face off with David King Summerbell in at least one of the three Thundersport II races. Gore promises to dethrone the King this time as well as set a new lap record at Dover. The current record belongs to Summerbell who said that he will do what he always does which is to entertain the crowd while winning his races.

The other drivers who attended were Peter Zoom Zoom Rae, Natsha Chiney Dolly Chang, Vivian Mitchell and Gary Barrett who came straight to the launch from the airport from Cayman where he resides.

Rae says that his car is ready for all comers while Chang said that hers was ready before it left Barbados after winning the modified production local race category. She will be battling Kyle Gregg in the MP2 category this race meet. Mitchell who created history at the last race meet after entering eight and winning seven said that he was just waiting for the meet to begin. Barrett was just happy to be home for racing as can’t miss a race meet at Dover.

Lissanne Pessoa, the lone female rider who will be riding in the MCB race will thrill the crowd after coming back wiser and more experienced for her second race day at Dover.

The drivers and riders all promised door banging, track burning races for the spectators who will attend the two-day race meet – Saturday for qualifying and Sunday being the main race day.

According to Monique Gibbs, JRDC’s communications director, a very exciting race day is being planned for the spectators. It will include the beginning of a raffle for a Quad to be redeemed at the next race day. There will be local drifters, crazy stunt bikers as well as a children’s village. the pre-sold ticket price had been reduced to $800 as a fan appreciation for Dover spectators plus other reductions in prices.

Co-title sponsor Jamaica Automotive Association was represented by Duane Ellis lauded the meet for its safety record. He outlined a plan to stage a Long Short Walk during the race day to focus on the safety aspect of driving and racing. It will involve over 400 walkers including high profile government persons to send a strong message about saving lives by safe driving. That is scheduled for 2:55 pm.

The other co-title sponsor Total was represented by Andrea Stephenson who endorsed the meet while encouraging other sponsors to come on board for a great event. She said that the Total group of drivers – namely David Summerbell, Andre Anderson and Kyle Gregg would put on a show at Dover as usual.

The sponsors for this race meet are Automotive Association, Total Lubricants, Seaboard Marine, Texaco with Techron, Jamaica Dekal Wireless, Knutsford Express, Chad Ad, KIG, Amsoil, Power 106, Music 99 and Klas ESPN.
