Jamaicans and track and field fans the world over held their collective breaths as former World 100m Champion Yohan Blake grabbed at his hamstring before falling to the ground in the final track event on day 1 one the Diamond League event in Glasgow Scotland.

Blake who only two days ago apologized for his absence from the Commonwealth Games which will be held in the city later this month was suffering another setback as he attempts to return from a hamstring injury that cut his season short in 2013. The 24 year old was just transitioning from his drive phase in the 100m when he grabbed his leg before hitting the track. He did manage to get up on his own before being taken away from the competition area in a wheelchair.

The race was won by another Jamaican athlete, Nickel Ashmeade who powered home ahead of Mike Rodgers who was credited with the same time of 9.97 seconds. Nesta Carter, the other Jamaican in the race finished in third place in a time of 9.98 seconds.
