Leading goal scorers to continue hunt for Golden Boot

Seven of the leading goal scorers in the FIFA World Cup in Brazil will continue their hunt for the coveted Golden Boot when the competition resumes tomorrow with the quarter-final round.

Colombian James Rodriguez whose stocks have risen significantly since the start of the tournament is the only player in contention who scored in the round of 16. Rodriguez scored both goals in Colombia’s 2-0 win over Uruguay to jump to the head of the pile.

Rodriguez who plays for Monaco in Ligue 1 has 5 goals and 2 assists to lead the likes of Thomas Muller of Germany (4 goals and 2 assists), Lionel Messi of Argentina (4 goals and 1 assist), Neymar of Brazil (4 goals), Karim Benzema (France), Arjen Robben and Robin Van Persie (Netherlands), all on three goals.

Rodriguez will go head to head with Brazil’s Neymar on Friday in the second quarter final match of the day while Benzema will do battle with Muller in the first game to start the round.
