The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) announced the members of the teams that will be participating in the inaugural International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Relay Games beginning next week Saturday in the Bahamas.

The Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium in Nassau is set to go up in lights as the IAAF presents its first staging of the World relays. The games is highly anticipated as there is no Olympic Games or World Championships to look forward to in this year’s outdoor season. This championships therefore, represents the only real chance for the worlds top track athletes to face off in 2014.

Jamaica is poised to do well in the races with stellar athletes like Sheri-Ann Brooks, Yohan Blake, Christine Day, Nesta Carter, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Shericka Jackson, Michael Frater, Kaliese Spencer, Edino Steele, Kerron Stewart, Warren Weir, Carrie Russell and Novlene Williams-Mills.

Fraser- Pryce who is popularly known for her personal best of 10.70 in the females100m is one of the athletes expected to pull out all the stops next to male athletes and teammates Yohan Blake and Nesta Carter. Both of whom was apart of the 4×100m relay team in the 2011 World Championships.

Though the list of athletes published by the JAAA is sufficient to enable Jamaica success in the World Relays, some key athletes like Usain Bolt, and Veronica Campbell-Brown were not included. Campbell-Brown since being acquitted of her doping allegations has only just returned to active competition and isn’t considered race ready.

The games will last for 2 days but the teams will have 10 days to prepare. The management team accompanying the athletes include: Marie Tavares Manager, Dennis Gordon Assistant Manager, Maurice Wilson Technical Leader, Michael Clarke Coach, Fitz Coleman Coach, Paul Francis Coach, Jermaine Shand Coach, Dr. Kingsley Chin Doctor, Nathaniel Davis Masseur, Colin Turner Masseur and Gaynor Downer Physiotherapist.
