The Inaugural staging of the Corporate Area Development Meet (CADM) will be held on Saturday, March1st 2014. The event was to have taken place on Saturday February 15th but had to be rescheduled. Having found a title sponsor, Anthrick Sports Management Group will now be staging the Alcor Windows and Doors Corporate Area Development Meet this weekend inside the National Stadium.

The brainchild of the Anthrick Sports Management Group, CADM will be the meet with a difference, as it will involve only schools based in the Corporate Area (Kingston and St. Andrew) and will take on a format similar to ‘Champs’. All the other development meets that are held to prepare the various high schools for Boys and Girls Championships feature a limited number of events. This forces coaches to run a number of athletes outside of their ‘pet’ events in order to give them race preparation.

An elated Ricky Martin was very thankful that Alcor Windows and Doors have stepped in to save the meet saying, “It is great that they stepped in when it was really needed. They have begun to partner with a number of schools, Kingston College being the latest one. They have been installing windows and doors in the schools to help transform the learning environment for our children.

“When people step up like this, it shows their corporate responsibility and we can only ask all of Jamaica to support them. We must support those who support us,” he stated.

Martin outlined just how significant the meet may turn out to be for a number of schools and athletes.

“This would have been the third meet to be canceled this season. It would have seriously affected a number of athletes in the corporate area as a number of them are still without qualifying times, distances and height.”

The Central Champs starts on Thursday (tomorrow) and Eastern Champs is next week so it is fitting that the Corporate Area have their meet as well.

The CADM will give coaches the opportunity to place athletes in their preferred  events and get a good gauge of where they are with just over three weeks to go before Champs. This makes the CADM a must on the calendar for all schools in the corporate area.

In addition to the schools that had confirmed from the original date, schools such as Wolmer’s Boys and Tivoli Gardens High have now confirmed their participation in the event. Over 30 schools are expected to be represented at the event and it is set to showcase most, if not all the top talent available in the corporate area.

After being spoiled by the splendid performances of the athletes at the Gibson Relays last weekend, track and field enthusiasts should be licking their lips to see the athletes go head to head in flat events with champs ‘just around the corner’.

Other sponsors of the event include JTA Cooperative Credit Union, Grace Kennedy Remittance Services, Western Union, Medical Disposables, Sherwin Williams, Fashion 911, Atlas Security, SIPS Water, Peak Bottling, Ministry of Health, XSOMO, Seaboard Jamaica, Rainbow Awnings, the JAAA, IPL and the hydration sponsors will be Hi-Lyte.
