AISK Mini-Olympics set for February

Kingston, Jamaica.  The American International School of Kingston (AISK) on January 27, 2014 launched the fourth staging of their sports event and mini-olympics; dubbed the Lasco AISK SportsFeva presented by Gatorade in association with Rainforest Seafood, Digicel, Guardian Group and National Outdoor Advertising (NOA); with a press launch held at the school’s campus. 

Kingston, Jamaica.  The American International School of Kingston (AISK) on January 27, 2014 launched the fourth staging of their sports event and mini-olympics; dubbed the Lasco AISK SportsFeva presented by Gatorade in association with Rainforest Seafood, Digicel, Guardian Group and National Outdoor Advertising (NOA); with a press launch held at the school’s campus. 

 

According to Kelly Jarrett, the Chair of the SportsFeva Committee, the school is very excited to be staging the event, and isgladto have participants from various schools in Jamaica and the Bahamas. “We will have our students from AISK, as well as schools in Kingston, Ocho Rios, Montego Bay and as far away as the Bahamas. Each year it gets bigger and bigger and we look forward to the future of the event.”

 

Guardian Group’s Sheraley Bridgeman, Assistant Vice President- Business Development, Guardian General Insurance Jamaica Limited commented on the company’s decision to partner with AISK, “Guardian is a strong believer in youth wellness and the development of young people on a local and regional level and we see where sports can be used as a platform to develop skills such as leadership and discipline. As a company, we value the contribution this makes to our nation and are thrilled to support initiatives that allow children to experience different types of sports – not just the usual football or basketball. Clay shooting and gymnastics are gaining popularity in Jamaica and this event showcases these sports and the young athletes who practice them.”

 

Students from various schools both at the primary and secondary levels are expected to participate, including students from Creative Kids Learning Academy, Sts. Peter and Paul Preparatory, Mona Preparatory, Liberty Academy, Jamaica College, Immaculate Conception, Hillel Academy, Campion College and ArdenneHigh School. Out of town schools will also be participating; including Manchester High and Belair High in addition to students from high schools in Ocho Rios and Montego Bay. The event will also host students from Lyford Cay International School in the Bahamas – who are the defending SoccerFeva girl’s champions for the third consecutive year. An estimated 418 students are expected to attend.

 

The competition will take place in February, 2014 with ClayFeva on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the Jamaica Skeet Club; GolfFeva on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Constant Spring Golf Club and TennisFeva on February 21-22, 2014. TumbleFeva will also take place on February 22, 2014 and AISK and SoccerFeva takes place on February 21-22, 2014 at the school’s campus.
