Jamaican – Carole Beckford – to give keynote address at Barbados National Awards

Kingston, January 30: The Business of Sport President, Carole Beckford, will be the feature speaker at the 31st National Awards Ceremony, Barbados on Saturday February 1. The national awards look at the top sporting awards in the country for the past year.

Kingston, January 30: The Business of Sport President, Carole Beckford, will be the feature speaker at the 31st National Awards Ceremony, Barbados on Saturday February 1. The national awards look at the top sporting awards in the country for the past year.

 

Beckford, fresh from two presentations at the inaugural Sport Tourism Conference in Martinique will focus her presentation on Regional Integration for the ultimate success in the Business of Sport. The Business of Sport President, has over the last five years, published extensively, lectured and presented at conferences on the topic and is of the firm belief that the Caribbean region has a distinct advantage in sport to not only produce its own athletes; but manage them successfully and hosting events for greater economic returns.

 

Many of Barbados’s leading sports stars along with a good spread of sports legends will be in attendance. Last year’s most prestigious award went to 110m World Champion Ryan Brathwaite, while female surfer, Chelsea Tuach came through as the emerging star. West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach was the recipient of the Sport Minister’s special award. Roach won that award for his performances in international games, primarily in Australia. Sir Gary Sobers is also set to receive a special award.

 

The ceremony which starts at 7:00pm will be held at the Frank Collymore Hall.

 

Beckford partners locally with Christopher Samuda, Milton Samuda, Winsome Young and Courtney Lodge. The 4th running of the international conference is due in Kingston at the Jamaica Pegasus, May 1&2 and will be held under the theme – Transform the Game.
