The Minister with Responsibility for Sport in the Office of the Prime Minister, Hon. Natalie Neita Headley, M.P., has congratulated the Jamaica bobsled team on qualifying for the 2014 Winter Olympics to be held in Sochi, Russia next month.

“This is great news and another proud moment for our country and I am pleased to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the team that has worked so hard to secure a place at the Winter Olympics,” Minister Neita Headley said.

In wishing the team all the very best in their participation at the Games, the Minister said “Marvin Dixon, Winston Watts and the rest of the team have shown their passion for the sport and the determination to compete at the highest level and in an area of sport in which Jamaica’s exploits are less well known. But that has never deterred us and I join with all Jamaicans in wishing you all the best as you prepare to compete against the world’s best.” Minister Neita Headley said.

Minister Neita Headley further added that the government through the Sports Development Foundation (SDF) is again prepared to offer its assistance to the team in representing the country once a submission is received from the Jamaica Bobsleigh Federation.
