Kingston, Jamaica; Running Events Limited has led from the front in the organization planning and management of road races across the island. In recent times there has been an increased buzz around road races as more Jamaicans are seeking ways of maintaining and improving their health.

Alfred ‘Franno’ Francis the mastermind at the helm of the organization has been instrumental in ensuring the success of the events island wide. To his credit he was very much involved in a record breaking initiative, the CB Group UWI 5K Run/Walk which amassed $18 M in its inaugural staging. Francis remarked, “The UWI 5K in comparison to other events was a model in the level of success and funds it generated in its first staging. We recorded 3000 participants last year at a rate of $1000 per participant so the amount of funds generated was largely due to goodwill support on the part of UWI alumni. It was great to see the effort that was made to support the run.”

Francis through his Running Events Limited brand has managed to evolve road races by adding a level of professionalism to the events consequently raising the standard of the competitions which increase the appeal to participants. One such way in which this is done is with the usage of a chip timed system which digitally records the times of each person starting and finishing the race. Several race events have adopted this technology as they grow annually to attract massive crowds.

This Sunday, November 17 Francis and the Running Events team will embark upon their 16th race for the year as they execute the second staging of the CB Group UWI 5K Run/Walk at the UWI Mona Bowl starting at 7:00 am. “In terms of participation we are expecting a 20% increase from last year’s race. The marketing will be important because what you put in is what you get out so once the marketing is done to a standard the event should grow. Plus with participants from last year telling friends, associates and family members about their experience, that too will aid the event from a marketing perspective as those personal experience stories can motivate others to participate this year”, explained Francis about his expectations for this year’s staging.

Running Events Limited is making an indelible mark on the business of sports with their continued support and involvement in road races across the island. Over the past two years the professional road race management agency has been involved in over 35 road race events. Persons may visit their website, another masterstroke in terms of professional business strategy, to view the schedule of events which fall under their agenda.
