The Digicel 5K Night Run/Walk to be staged on Saturday October 26th starting at 7:00pm will feature a very special participant, Senator Floyd Morris who is blind and has constantly championed the cause of people with special needs.

Morris who was the keynote speaker at the launch said “The proceeds of this event is going to a community that is close to me. I commend Digicel for the work they do for the disabilities community which has seen significant benefits through the Digicel Foundation.”

“The special needs building at the University of the West Indies was done by the Digicel Foundation and it has benefitted thousands of students to date. Digicel executes and implements what they preach by employing disabled people,” he continued.

Morris who said he had budgeted to do six walks for the year will be participating in his seventh and says he is happy to do so because “Running Events are very professional in their approach. The event will be well organized and executed.

“The race will take place in ideal conditions because we (the blind) are ‘kings of the dark’. Catch me if you can,” he joked.

“Make sure you start and you finish,” he concluded.

The event is reported to have had over 10,000 registered entrants so far.
