On a day when the athletes produced some excellent displays of sprint hurdling at the Youngster Goldsmith Classics inside the National Stadium, young Brittany Anderson of Vere Technical High school provided what was arguably the performance of the afternoon.

The former queens of Girl Champs, Vere Technical High, despite not being top of the pile in the last decade is still providing the platform for young talent to thrive and unleash their athletic abilities. With 22 titles, Vere Technical is still the most successful school in the annals of the ISSA Girls Athletics Championships.

You will know who they are when you see them, as the sign of champions is written across their faces. Young Britney Dixon and Sasha-Gay Whyte are two of the of the most humble junior track athletes you will come across.

Britnie Dixon's running style is very distinct, and when she lines up at the start line in the colours of Vere she brings back memories of former star and national record holder Inez Turner and Evette Turner, who represented their alma Mata, Vere Technical well over 25 years ago at Champs.

There is an end to all good things and the end of what has been regarded by many track and field fans as a great initiative taken by Digicel to pump some money into high school track and field 2015, through its Grand Prix Athletic Series, will see its final meet, the GC Foster Classics this Saturday, March 14, 2015.
