The Honourable Olivia Grange, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport announced today that the statue to be erected in honour of Jamaica’s leading female sprinter, Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce, is now in the island.

Concacaf announced Thursday that the Concacaf Caribbean Women's Qualifier Final Round will be held in Kingston, Jamaica between August 25 and September 2. 

The Qualifiers will include five countries Trinidad and Tobago; Bermuda; Cuba; Antigua and Barbuda and Jamaica. Three of this five will qualify for the Concacaf stage of the Qualifiers to be held in October in the USA.

The President of the Jamaica Football Federation, captain Horace Burrell is dead. Burrell who had been ailing for some time passed away peacefully in Florida on Tuesday.

Burrell had the vision and foresight need to get Jamaica to qualify for the World Cup of football in 1998 in his first stint as President of the JFF between 1994 and returned to the top post in 2007 until the time of his passing, he was 67 years old.
