The international media sphere is being buzzing since Wednesday morning with the news that arguably the world’s greatest track-and-field star, Usain Bolt is set to lose one of his 2008 Beijing gold medals.

This is on the back of an International Olympic Committee (IOC) release, confirming that the Jamaican 4x100 relay team is being stripped of their 2008 victory after squad member Nesta Carter tested positive for a banned substance.

Veteran sprinter Nesta Carter will replace Kemar Bailey-Cole at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing China after the Commonwealth 100m champion tore his hamstring in training yesterday.

A very disappointed Bailey-Cole posted the following on his facebook page:

On a night when many of the athletes found the going tough due to the weather conditions and even the starters gun, most of Jamaica's athletes on show, gave good account of themselves. This at the eleventh stop on the Diamond League circuit, in Stockholm, Sweden.

Jamaica’s top performerance came from quartermile warrior and Commonwealth Games Silver medalist, Novlene Williams-Mills.

Jamaicans and track and field fans the world over held their collective breaths as former World 100m Champion Yohan Blake grabbed at his hamstring before falling to the ground in the final track event on day 1 one the Diamond League event in Glasgow Scotland.
