Jamaica has wrapped up it performances at the 2nd staging of the IOC Youth Olympic, in Nanjing China, which comes to a close on the 28 of August 2014. The team of 20 athletes finished with a record medal haul of 4, three gold and one silver, courtesy of one the games top performer, Jaheel Hyde, Martin Manley, Natalia Whyte and Obrien Waysome.

It was at the 2008 Olympics that Usain “Lighting” Bolt set the Beijing 'Birds Nest' stadium on fire with two gold medals and two word records - five years later,Wolmer's Boys track hero and the cool ruler of Youth Track and Field, Jaheel Hyde showed the world once more that he is a legend in the making. This after he ran a world youth record in the 110m hurdles to claim gold at the second Youth Olympic games in Nanjing China.

The most difficult task for is often striking the balance between sports and school. Surely that has been the cry amongst many of our student athletes in our High schools. Many believe and are of the view that it is for that reason why the Inter Secondary schools Sports Association (ISSA) has placed the qualifying standards at a meager 40% in four subject area, for participation in any of its school operated competitions.
