Manchester United could be set to announce the signing of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan this weekend for a fee of £20 million, as the race for his signature heightens.
Big changes are expected at Signal Iduna Park this summer, with manager Jurgen Klopp already confirmed as leaving and has been replaced by Thomas Tuchel, and Gundogan, 24, has already informed the club that he will not be signing an extension to his contract, which runs out in 2016.
The Barclays Premier League takes centre stage this weekend with Chelsea looking to extend their lead at the top and get themselves out of sight. Jose Mourinho seems to be happy with the situation at the moment and even insisted that he wants to remain at Chelsea for as long as possible. Manuel Pellegrini on the other hand hinted at a Wilfried Bony debut against Newcastle and hopes his Man City team will make up some ground in the title race.

Injuries have always been a manager's worst nightmare. A manager who is no stranger to big clubs, big players and big games is Loius Van Gaal.
Van Gaal has managed and won titles in three different leagues ,but has never faced a torrid injury crisis like the one he has had to face at his current club Manchester United.

Former Manchester United manager and the most successful manager in the history of British Football Sir Alex Ferguson has publicly expressed his full support of Louis van Gaal who is now in the hot-seat at Old Trafford. Van Gaal was given the responsibility of picking up all the pieces of a broken team engineered by David Moyes, in an effort to bring them back to where they belong.
Just a day after losing their most experienced and perhaps their best defensive minded midfielder in Michael Carrick to a groin injury, Manchester United has perhaps reached a crisis level with a fresh injury. Spanish international David de Gea has picked up an injury during training with the Spanish national team leaving Louis van Gaal without any of his senior figures in the defensive unit.

Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo picked up an injury in the Manchester derby and is said to be out for just 3 matches. The 24 year old Argentine suffered a dislocated shoulder injury after he made a sliding challenge of fellow countryman Martin Demichelis. It was feared that he would be out for a very long time but his father has since confirmed that it is not as serious as first thought.

Over the years, Manchester United has been fortunate to have some of the best defenders in world football. The Red Devils have been renown for coming up with great defensive partnerships starting with Steve Bruce and Gary Pallister. They were also able to come with Jaap Stam and Mikael Silvestre then perhaps the best partnership ever with Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.
Manchester United faces another big test this weekend with a trip to city rivals Manchester City. The Red Devils have been without their skipper for their last three outings due to suspension but he will be available for this monumental clash. Wayne Rooney was seen training on Friday and manager Louis van Gaal confirmed his skipper is fit to play in the Manchester derby.
