The Jamaica Athletics Administration Association today received permission from of the Government of Jamaica, through the Ministry of Health and Wellness, The Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Local Government & Rural Development, to host a series of Qualification Trials to give junior and senior athletes the much-needed competition.

It hasn’t taken long for former Kingston College track and field captain Tarees Rhoden to get his priorities straight as to what he wants to do with his life.

In 2019 Rhoden captained Kingston College (KC) to a record breaking points total as they ended the seven year reign of rivals Calabar High and took the Mortimer Geddes Trophy back to 2A North Street.

Amongst a plethora of meets this week, lies a special track and field event that is quickly making a name for itself on the track and field calendar in the country. The Corporate Area Development Meet, which forms a part of the Digicel Grand Prix Athletics Series, has come in to fill a much needed gap for schools in the Kingston Metropolitan Area. The meet will take place today and tomorrow at the National Stadium starting at 9am each day.

The fourth staging of the ISSA/FLOW Super Cup Competition gets going today with what promises to be an exciting double header at the Catherine Hall Sports Complex  The new look competition which begins at the quarter final round instead of the usual round of sixteen will see Ben Francis Cup champions Clarendon College take on Calabar High at 5pm before St. Elizabeth Technical face St. Andrew Technical in the feature encounter.

All is set for what is expected to be another exciting Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships beginning today inside the National Stadium.

The 107th staging of this prestigious event will see Calabar High and Edwin Allen High try to defend their respective boys’ and girls’ titles during five days of grueling action as over 100 schools try to take away their titles.

The 107th staging of the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/Grace Kennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships was launched on Thursday at the Spanish Court Hotel in Kingston, amidst continuing debate about the participation of Kingston College athlete Aryamanya Rodgers.

Calabar won the event in 3:09.96 seconds to erase the 3:10.84 seconds set way back in 2015 by St. Elizabeth Technical High School.

The National stadium was host to a feast of exciting and thrilling performances as the curtains came down on the third staging of the Digicel Grand Prix on Saturday.
