STETHS RULES THEIR TERRITORY AT GRACE/ STETHS INVITATIONAL 2016

The 32nd staging Grace/STETHS Invitational once again provided an opportunity for the home track and field team to match their efforts with some of their top rivals from across the country. The athletes on show gave their home fans a lot to cheer about, as they continue their build up to another competitive Boys and Girls Championships.

Kimisha Chambers won the female 400m open in 1:01.36 seconds ahead of Edwin Allen’s Janiel Moore 1:03.69 seconds and another STETHS athlete in Winsome Harris 1:05.21 seconds.

The Under 18 Boys 400 Meter Hurdles was won by Dashinelle Dyer of St. Elizabeth in 57.37 seconds. Jauvaney James ensured it was all STETHS way by winning the Men’s Open 400m hurdles in 54.83 seconds ahead of teammate Leonardo Ledgister 56.20 seconds.

Junelle Broomfield was in cruise control en route to winning the Class One Girls 1500 meter run in 4:46.22 seconds ahead of the Edwin Allen pair of Teresha Jacobs 4:51.83 seconds and Ashanni Robb 5:04.28 seconds.

Shaniel Smith (5:02.80) handled the business for STETHS in the Class Two event, dispatching Edwin Allen trio of Jeima Davis 5:06.51 seconds, Aneisha Ingram 5:10. 67 seconds Shanae Ingram 5:27.89 seconds.

Edwin Allen managed to break the STETHS winning trend a bit, through Cemore Donald won the Class Three event in 4: 48.84 seconds ahead of Manchester’s Britney Brown 4:5601 seconds.

Shevan Parks of Bellefield High 4:07.32 seconds and Romar Scott Petersfield 4:22.75 seconds copped the Class One and Two event respectively, only before things would swing STETHS way again with David Martin winning the Class Three event in 4:41.45 seconds.

The Girls 400 Meter dash Class One went Danielle Thompson of Manchester in 58.56 seconds. The fastest time among all classes however came via STETHS Class Two athlete Stacey-Ann Williams (56.09) sending the crowd in frenzy by dismissing the challenge of Micheala Lewis 58.09 seconds and her teammate Satanya Wright 58.26 seconds copped third.

Edwin Allen Selisa Palmer (58.98s) managed to hold off STETHS Winsome Harris 59.44s, to win the Class Three event.

The Boys 400 meter Class 1 also went to STETHS via Ryan Dunkley’s 49.81 seconds run in that event, ahead of Maldon’s Glenville James 49.87 seconds and Manchester’s Daniel Wint 50.30 seconds.

It was similar story in Class Two as STETHS Dwight Mason 50.47 seconds, won ahead of Edwin Allen’s Jevaughn Powell 51.58 seconds and Petersfield Kevon Stone 51.81 seconds. The Class Three event was won by Antonio Watson of Petersfield in 52.98 seconds.

The Girls 100 Meters Dash all classes went to the Champs queen pins Edwin Allen with Class One going to Patrice Moody 12.09 seconds ahead of teammate Tamia Campbell in 12.57 seconds.

Shellece Clark, 12.40 seconds, won Class Two ahead of teammate Khamoy Farquharson in 12.41 seconds and third was Katherine Barnes of St. Elizabeth in 12.42 seconds.

Class Three went to Edwin Allen’s Kevona Davis 12.11 seconds from Kavia Francis of Manchester High’s 12.52 seconds and Ackelia Smith of Edwin Allen 12.52 seconds.

In the Class Four Girls 100 Meter its five the hard way for Edwin Allen, Patreece Clarke (12.76), Salieci Myles (12.81), Brandy Hall (13.10s), Paula-ann Chambers (13.10s) and Yolanda Watson (13.22 seconds).

The Boys Class One 100 meter brought back the cheers for STETHS with Nigel Ellis winning in 10.60 seconds ahead of teammate Marquis Jones 11.04s.

Class Two went to Frome Technical Sean-dee Porter in 11.14 seconds. Dennis Sachin won the Class Three event for SETHS in 11.40 seconds.

In the field the home teammate gave good account of themselves with Romar Stone copping the Boys Class Two Long jump with a mark of 6.51m. In Class Three Jason Bent Copped the runner up spot for STETHS with a jump of 5.28m, to finish behind Jermaine Ewers of Glenmuir High 5.62m.

It was a STETHS quenellla in Girls Long Jump Class 2, through Adrianna Miller 5.26m and Monique Williams with 5.03m.

Other outstanding performances came via Cornwall College’s Alrick Ottey 7.46m in Class One Long Jump and Petersfield Kevin Nedrick in the Men’s Javelin with 57.56m.

STETHS was bang on the money wining the Girls 4×400 Meter Relay Open Finals in 3:43.46 seconds ahead of Edwin Allen High B 3:48.44 seconds and Manchester High A in 3:58.39 seconds. The team of Satanya Wright, Junelle Broonmfield, Stacy Ann Williams, and Kimisha Chambers pocketed 25,000 for the winning effort.

The Boys team of Ledgsister, Ellis, James, and Dunkley won the 4×400 Meter Relay Open Finals for St. Elizabeth A 3:19.50 seconds ahead of Rhodes Hall High B 3:25.24 seconds and William Knib A 3:25.51 seconds.

STETHS wrapped up the double winning the Boys 4×800 Meter Relay Open in 7:56.61 seconds ahead Spaldings High A 8:03.75 seconds. They also won for themselves 25,000 cheque for the victory.

The Girls 4×800 Meter went to Edwin Allen High A 9:19.25 ahead of Spaldings High A 9:38.55 in a two team field.
