PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – Kjorn Ottley and Kyle Hope carved out classy, unbeaten half-centuries, as holders Trinidad & Tobago Red Force capitalised on feeble batting from Barbados Pride to cruise to a nine-wicket victory in the NAGICO Super50 Tournament on Saturday.

Left-hander Ottley, later named the Player-of-the-Match, struck 11 boundaries in an unbeaten 80 from 113 balls, and Hope, a Barbadian drafted by the Red Force this season, collected six fours and a six in 70 not out off 100 balls, as the hosts chased down a modest victory target of 162 with 85 balls remaining.

The Red Force pair shared 162 – unbroken – for the second wicket, after Justin Greaves bowled left-handed opener Evin Lewis for a duck with the second ball of the innings in the second round match at the Queen’s Park Oval.

It was the second straight victory for the Red Force, catapulting them to the top of Group “A” with 10 points, following an 84-run victory over Jamaica Scorpions in their opener two days earlier at the same venue.

Earlier, Roston Chase top-scored with 50, Greaves, batting at number eight, made a valuable 31 and ShamarhBrooks added 25, but there was little substance from the rest of the Pride batting and they were bowled out for 161 in 49.3 overs after they chose to bat.

Off-spinner Jon-Russ Jaggesar, in only his second game at regional level, hurt the innings with 3-25 from 8.3overs, left-arm spinner Yannick Ottley, Kjorn’s younger brother, and experienced fast-medium bowler RayadEmrit supported with two wickets apiece.
