LENNON, MANCHESTER PROGRESS TO LAST FOUR OF DCUP

Manchester High,Dinthill,ISSA/FLOW DaCosta Cup,Clarendon College,

The DaCosta Cup competition, the symbol of supremacy in Rural Area schoolboy football, will crown a new Champion for 2015, as defending champion Clarendon College was sent crashing out of the competition at the quarterfinals stage on Wednesday. The Paul Tegat Davis unit needed to win and pray that their fellow parish rival Glenmuir took care of Dinthill Technical.

While Segel Knight and his team tried desperately to breakdown the Ruseans defence at, Juici Park, Jack Walters troops were being schooled by Dinthill over at Wembley Community Centre.

Despite a fruitful second half in a game where tempers flared and Knight and Joel Sterling scored to complete the team’s objective, their destiny was never in their hands. The two goal victory was all in vain in the end.

Dinthill secured a comfortable 3 nothing win in their match, to finish on seven points ,securing a return to the Ben Francis and DaCosta Cup semifinals. The scorers for the St Catherine based school were Lagaune Thompson, Rodave Murray and Douwarne Hamilton.

A journey out west, would only be worthwhile if Donavan Dukie, could rally his Manchester team, to a victory in what was a must win encounter. As he asked of them, so did they deliver tagging St James 1-0 courtesy of Romaine Walsh strike in third minute of play.

The margin of victory was good enough, as Lacovia squandered numerous chances, and surrendered their one goal lead late in game to share the points with a fighting Paul Bogle High team.

Lennon High, the 2010 beaten Dacosta Cup finalists inched a step closer to reaching the grand finale again, coming away with a beautiful 3-0 group Q topping win over pre-game group leaders, Petersfield. The seven points to top the group, was made safe by a double strike from Rushane Grant and Jason Johnson the other.

In other game of academic interest, Seaforth slammed Port Antonio 6-3 over at Carder Park.
