DCUP Quarter-Finals : Twelve teams do battle for four qualification spots

DaCosta Cup,STETHS,Clarendon College, Manchester High,Paul Bogle,

The final rounds of games in the ISSA/FLOW DaCosta Cup quarterfinals will provide some of the competing teams with a chance to enter into uncharted territory, while for others, another chance to advance to the semi-finals.

Intriguingly, there is only one team of the quartet in Group S that cannot qualify for the knockout stage. Defending champions, Clarendon College who are currently sitting third, will have it all to play for when they face off with group leaders, Ruseas, on Wednesday at the Juici Patties Field. The Paul ‘Tegat’ Davis coached unit will be banking heavily on their lead strikers Segel Knight and Andrew Gutzmore to lead from the front and keep them in the hunt to retain their crown.

Dinthill Technical, sit second and will want to secure a huge victory against out of contention Glenmuir High at the Wembley Community Centre. Victory for Dinthill by a decent margin could see them into the semifinals.

St Elizabeth Technical High will continue striking at opportune moments, as they look to dominate their match against Mannings who trail them in Group I. STETHS has been perfect on six points from two games and a draw could seal their place. Their Westmoreland based opponents know that only a win will do.

Vere Technical will be praying hard that Mannings takes care of STETHS, as they will head to Wembley Community Centre with the objective of demolishing out of contention Marcus Garvey Technical. Victory will have to come by a huge margin, should Manning defeat STETHS in their match up. Both Manning and Vere with victory can finish at most on six points, the same total STETHS now has and goal difference could be the deciding factor. Both games are set for Thursday afternoon.

Its all to play for in Group P, where all four teams sit on three points a piece.

Manchester leads via +1 goal difference, from Lacovia and St James both with a zero goal difference. Paul Bogle is at the bottom with a minus 1 goal difference.

Manchester High will be made to work hard for a win, with the Theodore Whitmore Boys waiting to put up a stiff resistance as they look to grab all three points. This match is set for Jarrett Park.

Lacovia and Paul Bogle are quite aware that an appearance in semi-finals is just a big victory away and as such its should be guns blazing from the start between these two at the STETHS Complex.

Over in Group Q, Petersfield and Lennon will know that their match up schedule for Frome Sports complex is a do or die game. Both teams are locked on four points and have the only chances of advancing over their rivals, who can only finish on a total of four points. Seaforth and Port Antonio will complete their fixtures at Carder Park.

The winner of each group will advance to the final four of the competition.
