NEW SEASON OF REGIONAL FOUR DAY CRICKET COMPETITION BOWLS OFF ON FRIDAY

The 2015/2016 season of West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Professional Cricket League Regional 4-Day Tournament opens on Friday, November 6, 2015.

For the second straight season competition will continue under the franchise format, featuring 10 rounds of matches – the same as last season – played over the next five months between franchises drawn from the six territorial boards of the WICB.

The teams for this season will be the defending champions Guyana Jaguars, Windward Islands Volcanoes,Leeward Islands Hurricanes,Trinidad & Tobago Red Force,Barbados Pride, Jamaica Scorpions

The WICB director of cricket Richard Pybus speaking at the launch earlier last month expressed their optimism and expectations for the new season.

“We’re excited going into the second season of the PCL R4Day.We want to see how much progress the franchise teams have made, having had an off-season with their squads to work on their preparation and fitness, as well as team and individual game” he said.

The teams will do battle for the Headley/Weeks Trophy with the first round scheduled match ups November.6-9.

The Leon Johnson (captain)led Jaguars vs Liam Sebastien (captain) led Volcanoes at Guyana National Stadium.

The Hurricanes with Steve Liburd as captain will oppose Red Force led by Rayad Emrit at the Warner Park, St.Kitts.

The Jamaica Scorpions with new captain debutant Paul Palmer and new recruit Kirk Edwards who last season donned the Barbadian colors, will be in a huge anticipated clash with the Barbados Pride at the Kensington Oval.

Kraigg Brathwaite is the man selected to captain the home side.

All matches are Scheduled start 10 am daily, except where indicated)

Pride vs Red Force – Kensington Oval, Barbados

Jaguars vs Hurricanes – National Cricket Stadium, Guyana (9:30 am start)

Round 3 – November 20 to 23

Volcanoes vs Hurricanes – Windsor Park, Dominica

Jaguars vs Pride – National Cricket Stadium, Guyana (9:30 am start)

Red Force vs Scorpions – Queen’s Park Oval, Trinidad
