ALIA ATKINSON CONTINUES THE JAMAICAN BURNING IN BEIJING

There is no stopping her now, she is definitely on the move, speaking her of Swim Queen, Alia Atkinson. The Jamaican who kept her Hong Kong momentum going into China where she reached another top podium finish at the 2015 FINA World Cup at the Aquatic Centre in Beijing, China on Tuesday.

Touching home in a time of 1:07.39 seconds in the women’s 100m breastroke, she claimed gold ahead of hometown girl, China’s Jinglin Shi in 1:08.25 seconds, in what was built has are match from 2015 world swimming championship. American Micah Lawrence finished some distance down in third with a touch of 1:08.81 seconds.

Atkinson picked up 870 ranking points with the victory. She will contest the women’s 50m breastroke, the 200m breastroke and the 50m butterfly events on day 2 of the championship.

Alia who finished third in 2014, is ranked fifth at the moment on 60 points in the six series championship behind last year’s winner Katinka Hossuz on 291 points.

She gained 24 points from cluster 1 ( France and Russia) , and 36 points thus far from from cluster 2 ( Japan and China ) . Cluster 3 which involved stops in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates
