For the second consecutive year, Hi-Pro will be sponsoring the staging of the All Jamaica Tennis Championships from August 17 to 22, organised by Tennis Jamaica. The tournament was brought back on the sports calendar last year with Hi-Pro’s support, following a 15-year hiatus.

This year’s five-day championships will be held on recently refurbished hard courts at The Eric Bell Tennis Centre, 2a Piccadilly Road – headquarters for Tennis Jamaica.

Top prize for the winner in the Men’s Singles will be $100,000, while the winner in the Women’s Singles will walk away with $40,000. The runner-up in the Men’s Singles will get $50,000 and $20,000 will go to the runner-up in the Women’s Singles.

Some of the island’s top players will be participating in seven categories, including Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles, Class II Men’s Singles, Class II Men’s Doubles and Men’s Singles 45 and over, for a total of $500,000 in cash and other prizes.

Dayne Patterson, Business Development Manager for Hi-Pro – a division of the Jamaica Broilers Group – said he was pleased to again partner with Tennis Jamaica to stage this year’s Hi-Pro All Jamaica Tennis Championships. “We look forward to another exciting year of great play and spectator interactions as we partner to grow the tournament exponentially each staging,” he said.

According to Aswad Morgan, 1st Vice-President of Tennis Jamaica: “The tournament is
particularly special for us this year because it will be the first senior tournament to be played on our recently refurbished courts. The venue has a rich history with some of the island’s more memorable Davis Cup battles having been played there, as well as the early display of the talents of many outstanding players.”

Mr. Morgan said the Hi Pro All Jamaica Tennis Championships is a critical component in the long term vision of Tennis Jamaica to allow players to showcase their skills, benchmarked against local and international competitions and compete for attractive prize money in a world-class playing facility.

“We continue to be grateful to Hi-Pro for their sponsorship of our tennis events over the past four years,” he continued.

David Sanguinetti, Tournament Director at Tennis Jamaica said his organisation is looking forward to hosting some of Jamaica’s finest on the courts and extended an invitation for persons to come out and support the players, while enjoying top-class tennis all week.
