Foska Oats sponsors Melbourne Cricket Club Summer Camp

Cricket has a long legacy as the sport of Jamaica and with the Foska Oats Melbourne Cricket Club Summer Camp2015, the tradition is set to continue for a new generation of youngsters.

Now in its 23rd year, this Summer Camp is teaching the fundamentals of the game to boys and girls aged 5 – 16. The Summer Cricket camp has produced numerous outstanding West Indies players including Michael Holding, the Honourable Courtney Walsh, Arthur Barrett and Robert Samuels of a past era, and boasts current stars like Marlon Samuels, Carlton Baugh Jnr. and Nikita Miller among others. Melbourne has also dominated local competitions over the years, winning numerous national titles.

The Foska Oats Melbourne Cricket ClubCamp will be held over the period August 3 – 14, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The coaches will include Honourable Courtney Walsh, Robert Samuels, Dorothy Hobson and Wavell Hinds educating and motivating our young athletes.

Mark Neita, President of Melbourne Cricket Club said : “We learn many important lessons when we are active and play together. The game of cricket is not only an excellent way to get physical exercise but it also fosters team work, encourages discipline and builds self-confidence in children. The annual Summer Cricket Camp is one of the avenues for harnessing cricket talent and sustaining the Club.”

Denise Byfield Dixon, Senior Brand Manager, Chas E. Ramson stated “Foska wants children to grow up to be the best they can be. The brand is happy to partner with Melbourne Cricket Club on this initiative. The camp introduces children to the wonderful game of cricket, which is an important part of our heritage and which gives us a sense of who we are as Jamaicans.”
