The Jamaica football fraternity was thrown into mourning this morning with the sudden passing of Tivoli Gardens head coach Alvin Shaw. Shaw held the head coaching position for the first time during the just concluded 2014/2015 season after spending many years as assistant to Glendon ‘Admiral’ Bailey.

The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) released a statement earlier today after the news broke about Shaw’s untimely death:

“The Jamaica Football Federation expresses sincerest sadness at the tragic passing of Mr. Alvin Shaw, member of the technical staff of the Tivoli Gardens Football Club.

Alvin, an Advance Level 11 certified coach, was not only amongst the first set of coaches to do our courses at the JMMB/JFF/Utech Coaching School in 2009 but was also a a top performer in his cohort. He always expressed a desire to learn more and develop his craft. He was a promising coach who had much to give the sport.

On behalf of President, Captain Horace Burrell, the Board of Directors and staff of the JFF, we extend our condolences to Alvin’s family and friends and the Tivoli Gardens FC family.

May his soul rest in peace.”
