Quest Prep scored a remarkable come from behind 2-1 win over Hydel Prep at the UWI Bowl on Wednesday, to book a spot in the final of the Tastee/JISA Prep Schools Henriques Cup.

The game between two evenly matched teams produced very few chances early on as both defences stood up to the task. Neither team could gain an upper hand but Hydel took a fortuitous lead in the 17th minute through a Quest own goal.

Faced with the prospect of missing out on the final, Quest came out in the second half like a team on a mission and though Hydel matched them stride for stride in the opening minutes they soon took a strangle hold on the game.

Ten minutes into the second half Hydel goalkeeper Darren Thomas did well to tip over a Tishaun Lawson shot for a corner kick.

Two minutes later Lawson was again at the centre of things when a neat give and go between himself and Revaldo Mitchell ended with his skewed shot going wide of the post.

Clayton Marshall let rip from distance a minute later and his shot was inches away from upright as Quest lay siege to the Hydel goal.

Hydel’s danger man Damoy Whitehorn was being defended well by an organized Quest defence and the wily Rueben Brown was unable to have his usual impact on the game for Hydel, as the Ferry based school struggled to get anything going offensively.

With ten minutes left on the clock Quest thought they had found the equalizer when Thomas spilled a free kick from Jahiem Stern almost on the goal line, but cat-like reflexes from the keeper helped him recover the ball just in time.

Quest found the equalizer five minutes from time when Thomas misjudged the flight of a long ball and failed to gather it properly. Lawson to full advantage of the keeper’s spill and fired home into an empty net to make it 1-1.

With extra time looming, the game was decided a minute from full time when the talented and hard working Jahiem Rose struck a beautiful free kick that found its way into the roof of the Hydel net.
Quest will face Mona in the finals on Saturday after falling at the last hurdle last season against Lannaman’s.
