Hue told to stand down by JFF

The legal wrangling between the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) and former national player Jermaine Hue looks set to come to a head after the local football authorities gave the player 48 hours to withdraw his legal claims against them Dr Carlton Fraser.

In a release today the JFF demanded that the Harbour View FC drop the suit without prejudice:

The Jamaica Football Federation today (October 1, 2014) wrote to Mr. Jermaine Hue regarding the captioned matter.

In the Claim documentation filed in the Supreme Court of Judicature, Jamaica, on the 17th of September 2014, Mr. Hue is named as claimant and alleges breach of contract, battery and negligence on the part of the Jamaica Football Federation and its servants/agents.

In its letter the JFF pointed to “the provisions of the Jamaica Football Federation By Laws as well as the JFF Player Contract, (signed by Mr. Hue) which “explicitly incorporates a protocol for the settlement of grievances and enshrines the procedure as set out in the FIFA statutes in which, as a general rule, recourse to ordinary courts of law is prohibited”

As a consequence the JFF in its letter which clearly states that its content is WITHOUT PREJUDICE, requested that Mr. Hue withdraw the actions from the court within forty eight(48) hours of receipt of the letter.

Finally the JFF indicated that if proof of withdrawal is not forthcoming in the specified time, the Federation would have no other option but to submit the matter to the relevant authorities within the JFF for its consideration and decision.

It will be interesting to see the response of the player whose international career hands in the balance following his decision to take the JFF to court.
