Borussia Dortmund has announced the signing of Italian forward Ciro Immobile from Torino. The 24 year old was the top scorer in the Serie A last season with 22 goals and has been brought in to help fill the void left by Robert Lewandowski.

This is a huge signing for Dortmund because the Italian was attracting interest from other major clubs. He should fit in perfectly with the way Dortmund likes to play. He can hold the ball up, runs the channels well, has good link-up play and he is a natural finisher.

Sporting director Michael Zorc expressed delight in bringing the Italian to the Signal Iduna Park and believes he will excel at the club. He told the club’s official website, ‘In Ciro Immobile we have got a flexible and dynamic attacker who has succeeded in an impressive way in a top European league. He will fit in perfectly with the outstanding qualities required by Borussia Dortmund.’

Immobile’s focus now will be on the World Cup where he has been named in the final squad. Italy faces Uruguay, England and Costa Rica in Group D.

After the World Cup he will join up with his new teammates in Germany. He is Dortmund’s third striker signing following Ji Dong-won and Adrian Ramos.
