Vaz holds narrow lead over Hydel heading into final day of Prep Champs 2014

After seven completed events Vaz Prep school on 39 points leads defending champions Hydel Prep on 35.50 by a mere 4.5 points heading into the final day of the JISA/Serge Prep champs on at the National Stadium in Kingston Jamaica.

The action has been keen and intense over the first two days and with only finals scheduled for today’s final day in, is expected to be blazing from the start at 10:30am.

Wolmers in third place on 30.50, will feel they are still in the running and will push the front two all the way. The championship may come down to how well the schools do in the field and who executes in the relays. Vaz has made mistakes twice already, dropping the baton in the relays and it may come back to haunt them when all the points are tallied.

Although not highly fancied at the start of the meet, Our Lady of the Angels Prep (OLA) is poised to pounce on 27.50 points and will score heavily in Class 1. Their star athlete Kelsey Christian will be looking to set the tone by grabbing gold in the 300m for Class 1 girls.

A number of athletes including Davion Williams of Quest Prep, are seeking sprint doubles in all classes which will keep the eyes of the fans glued to the track.
