After a round of Champion’s League football in midweek that saw the BPL’s top 2 lose to two of Europe’s heavyweights with similar 0-2 scorelines at home, comes the weekend round of games. It is already Matchday 27 and Saturday’s games will see Chelsea welcoming Everton to Stamford Bridge in the early kickoff.

After being knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester City last weekend, Chelsea will have a chance to go four points clear at the top of the league before both City and Arsenal play on the weekend.

Everton on the other hand, having cruised past Swansea to get to the next round of the Cup, haven’t been enjoying the best results in the league away from Goodison Park. They have lost their last two matches to Liverpool and Tottenham which has seen them drop to sixth in the tables and eight points behind fourth placed Liverpool.

Chelsea have been in top form at home, staying unbeaten in their last 14 games and winning 12 of those matches. With Everton going four away games without a win, and coming into the game without their star striker Romelu Lukaku, who is on loan from Chelsea, it would be a surprise to see them beat Chelsea and end Mourinho’s unbeaten record at the Bridge.

Arsenal take on Sunderland at 10:00 a.m. Saturday and will be looking to rebound from the 2-0 blanking they got in the Champions league mid-week. Sunderland are through to the next round of the FA Cup after beating Southampton over the weekend but will be switching their focus back to Premier League survival. They slipped back into the relegation zone on goal difference when their last match at Manchester City was postponed due to inclement weather. A superb revival has seen the Black Cats lose just two of their last 16 matches in all competitions and they will be hoping that their good form continues against Arsenal.

Arsenal are just one point behind league leaders Chelsea and will be looking for a win so as not to fall behind as they may be four points off the lead by match time as Chelsea will be playing before them. A win for Sunderland however, is unlikely if history is any indication as they haven’t beaten Arsenal away from home since 1983.

Sunderland will be without goalkeeper Keiren Westwood who is out with a shoulder injury, Carlos Cuellar is also injured whilst Defender Wes Brown will be serving the final game of a two match ban. Poyet could however be handed a boost with the return of Steven Fletcher who is hoping to make a return from an Achilles injury. Arsenal will be without defender Thomas Vermalean (Calf) and midfielders Kim Kallstrom (back) who is yet to play a game in Arsenal colors and Aaron Ramsey (Thigh). Theo Walcott and Abou Diaby (both knee) are long term absentees and could be joined on the sidelines by Kieran Gibbs who came off on Wednesday’s defeat to Bayern with a Hamstring injury.
