Despite being out of action since August, Borussia Dortmund’s midfield maestro Ilkay Gundogan is a man in demand. The 23 year old dictator got a back injury on international duty against Paraguay and is yet to make a return.

Gundogan has put his contract extension talks on hold and many of the top clubs in Europe are monitoring the situation waiting to pounce in order to capture the German international’s signature.

Manchester United has been monitoring the 25M rated midfielder for quite some time and was considered making a bid in the summer but they didn’t. Now the Red Devils are said to be preparing a package that they think can persuade the former Nurnberg man to move to Old Trafford. Arsenal are also said to be interested in the German midfielder who may be tempted to join his international teammates Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski at the Emirates.

However, news recently broke that Barcelona has now joined the race for the 23 year old. News in the Spanish media has also stated that Gundogan’s father has already met with Blaugrana officials as the Catalans look to steal a march on their European rivals for Gundogan. Earlier in the season there was word in the Spanish press that Real Madrid had a deal in place to sign Gundogan.

It was said that Nuri Sahin would be a part of the deal but there hasn’t been any official word on that story and now Madrid faces competition from Man United, Asenal and archrivals Barcelona for the services of Ilkay Gundogan.
