St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) is aiming to claim their second trophy for this season as they tackle Garvey Maceo in the DaCosta Cup final today at the Catherine Hall Sports Complex. The Ben Francis champions should start as favourites to lift the trophy and will be looking to do just that after the match.
St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) is aiming to claim their second trophy for this season as they tackle Garvey Maceo in the DaCosta Cup final today at the Catherine Hall Sports Complex. The Ben Francis champions should start as favourites to lift the trophy and will be looking to do just that after the match.
The boys from St Bess have been in good form all season and will be looking to carry that into the final. They will be looking to their national senior representative Khesanio Hall, who has scored 35 goals so far, to carry them to glory as they seek their fourth title. STEHS will also be looking to former Rusea’s High player Javon James and Oshan Chamberlane. The Omar Wedderburn team is unbeaten so far this season and will be looking to go finish the season in style. STETHS booked their place in the final with a 2-0 semi-final win over Port Antonio High last Saturday.
Garvey Maceo on the other hand will be looking to upset the Ben Francis champions to claim their second title. There is certainly a big buzz in Clarendon as they have a team reminiscent of that of the 2007 team lead by Ashton Bennett. This time around they are being lead by the impressive Ishmael Currie who has scored 6 goals since the start of the inter-zone round. Currie was on the score sheet in the semi-final as they got past Frome Technical High 2-0.
The Clarendon based Lenworth Gordon coached team will also be looking to their midfield dictator and creator Terwayne Foster as well as the mobile and tricky Ryann Scott to lead the charge, as they look to end the unbeaten streak of the Santa Cruz based team. Garvey Maceo is a very big and powerful team and will be pulling out all the stops to lift the trophy after the final whistle.
It should be quite a battle in Montego Bay as both teams fight for the right face Manning Cup champions Jamaica College in the Olivier Shield. The fans will be hoping for some great entertainment and hopefully this fixture will live up to the expectations of being an exciting tussle between two very good teams.
