KC must beat Hydel to keep season alive

Having been edged 1-0 by Jamaica College (JC) in their first game of the second round of the ISSA/LIME Manning Cup competition, Kingston College (KC) face a must win situation when the tackle last year’s losing finalists Hydel, at the Constant Spring Mini-Stadium at 1:00pm.

Hydel who clipped the more fancied Charlie Smith with a last minute winner in their first game, will be looking to make it two straight against the Donovan Hayles coached KC to strengthen their chances of getting to the semifinals.

Hydel’s display against Charlie Smith shows that they can soak up pressure and play on the counter and they may be prepared to do just that again today knowing that KC must score. Put nothing past the tactical nous of Jeffery Maxwell.

The trouble that KC faces is scoring goals. They scored heavily against Penwood in the first round, but against stronger opponents they have found it much more difficult.

The ‘Purples’ have been able to match up in midfield but lack that inspirational player to lift them past tougher teams the way Jaheel Hyde does for Wolmers and Junior Flemmings does for JC.

KC captain Allan Morgan needs to be that player today against a balanced Hydel team that is very solid at the back.
