Sunday NFL Gameday! The most important day of the week from September to Feburary; it’s a ritual in North American culture, the day when most games are played in the NFL; a good reason to get together with friends and family and watch the game.

From pizza, burgers, beer and chicken wings are on the typical menu at any gathering, but nothing beats actually going to the game; game time starts at one o’clock so fans go there early to start tailgating another ritual where fans have their top choice of food and beverage. Some fans cook out with grills, bring radios, TVs and games and hangout hours before kickoff; others simply bring sandwiches from their favorite deli! It’s like a festival at the stadium  parking and a few minutes before kickoff people start to head to their seats.

The stadium will give you the full experience with its own version of tailgating; from local sports broadcasting production sets, food trucks, video game trucks, pro shops, a wide variety of restaurants and bars; there is also live entertainment and lounges. At Sun Life Stadium home of the Miami Dolphins there is the “Orange Carpet” the side where the celebrities enter, you could even catch the owner Steven Ross fly in the team helicopter.

My first game was back in 2008, the Oakland Raiders came into town, that was the last season the Dolphins went the playoffs, it was early in the season and they needed every win, and the Raiders didn’t make it easy. The Dolphins won 17-15 by a scoring a 38 yard field goal leaving only 38 seconds on the clock, the Raiders had no chance to come back. It was true Miami Dolphins experience and from then I go to at least one game a season.

Last week’s loss against the Baltimore Ravens put the Fins at (3-2) heading into the bye week; hopefully they will do a self evaluation as players and the team as whole and come out with a win in week 7. Even though they lost, nothing beats cheering on the home team with friends, family or a complete stranger! Next time you are in a football town you should definitely check a game out, it’s worth the experience, every second of it!
