Germany manager Joachim Low has recalled the Bayern Munich trio of Toni Kroos, Mario Gotze and Bastian Schweinsteiger to his squad. Kroos and Gotze were out injured towards the end of last season but Schweinsteiger had surgery during the summer.
The trio are now included in the squad for world cup qualifiers against Austria and Faroe Islands on September 6 and September 10 respectively.
The most notable absentee from the German squad is last season’s Bundesliga top scorer Stefan Kiessling who netted 25 times in 34 games. The Bayer Leverkusen striker has not played for Germany since the World Cup 2010 third-place playoff against Uruguay. Despite being the top scorer and the only German striker who will play Champions League football this season, Kiessling has been omitted from the German squad.
