The young Sunshine Girls swept into the semifinals of the World Youth Netball championships yesterday when they got the better of Caribbean neighbours Trinidad and Tobago. The Jamaicans doubled their opponents score 64-32 in what was definitely not their best performance of the tournament.

The teams had met recently in a tri-nation tournament, which included England, as warm up for the championships so they both knew what to expect from each other.

Despite the Jamaicans not playing their best game the result was never in doubt as they won each quarter comfortably. The scores read after each quarter, 21-8: 38-17: 51:26 before the game ended 64-32.

For their efforts, Jamaica will now face New Zealand in the second semifinal at 2pm local time. The first semifinal will be played between England and Australia at 12 noon.
