Nicaragua beat Jamaica 3 sets to 1

in the final round robin game of the Norseca – World Championships -Volleyball qualifiers earlier today at the Alfred Sangster Auditorium, at UTECH.

The visitors easily got past the home team in set one, winning the set 25-15 without breaking much of a sweat. The Jamaicans showed more grit in set 2 as they tried to cope with the slick Nicaraguans who used the tip to their advantage throughout the entire game. Nicaragua won set two 25-18.

With the game on the line, the Jamaican ladies answered the called, giving as much as they got before eventually prevailing in a very exciting set, 28-26.

It seemed that the exertions of the third set was too much for the Jamaican team, as the very focused Nicaraguans closed out the fourth set and the game quite easily. The set ended 25-14 to Nicaragua who will face Jamaica again at 8:30pm in the finals of the round robin tournament.

The final will be preceded by the third-fourth play-off between Suriname and Bermuda at 6:30pm. Both finalists are already through to the next round of qualifying.
